Construite au XIIème siècle, l'église sa...

Construite au XIIème siècle, l'église saint Vincent est un édifice de style roman situé en plein cœur de Mérignac, a deux pas de la nouvelle église. Le clergé du prendre la décision de condamner cette église parce qu’elle ne répondait plus aux demandes des chrétiens dont le nombre croissant n’arrivait plus à loger dans l’église pendant les offices. Ravagée en 2001 par un éclair qui fit s’embraser et s'effondrer la toiture, l'église à été restaurée tout à fait fidèlement, dans son style roman original de 2003 à 2005. La municipalité l'a maintenant transformée en salle d'exposition, ainsi photographies, sculptures et tableaux trouvent tour à tour leur place au sein de cette ancienne église .

Il faut également noter que Saint Vincent est classée Monument Historique depuis le 2 juillet 1987 et qu’elle se situe à deux pas d’un arrêt de tram.
