La ville légendaire du roi Arthur

Excellent

Tintagel est un petit village d'environ 700 habitants qui se situe sur la côté du comté de Cornwall, à l'extrémité sud de l'Angleterre.
Ce lieu pittoresque est associé à la légende du roi Arthur et des chevaliers de la table ronde. En effet, ce serait dans ce petit village que ce roi légendaire serait lié et aurait grandit aux côtés de Merlin l'Enchanteur. Les ruines d'anciennes fortifications médiévales situées sur la côté à proximité de Tintagel sont d'ailleurs considérées comme celle du Château d'Arthur. On retrouve cette myhtologie dans les récits de l'écrivain Geoffroy de Monmouth et notamment son "Historia Regum Britanniae" rédigée en 1138.

Le petit village de Tintagel a donc profité de cette notoriété pour devenir un lieu touristique accueillant de nombreux pubs ou magasins qui reprennent la légende.
Cette localité possède également quelques édifices historiques qui valent le détour comme l'ancien bureau de poste du XIVème siècle ou l'église catholique du XIIème siècle.
