En entrant par la porte de l'Oulle dans...

En entrant par la porte de l'Oulle dans les murailles d'Avignon, on arrive a la place Crillon. Une belle place avec beaucoup de bars et restaurants en terrasse. Mais ce n'est pas une place piétonne, et hélas il rentre beaucoup de voitures par cette porte. On trouve sur la place une boutique de fleurs avec de belles plantes de la région, ils vendent par exemple de la lavande fraiche et sèche, et des petits oliviers, un souvenir populaire.
Ensuite il y a l'hôtel d'Europe, un grand palais ancien, et la Comédie, l'un des premiers théâtres d'Avignon. On trouve aussi une galerie d'art et des boutiques.

Pendant le festival de théâtre en juillet, ils font des spectacles en plein air sur la place et dans la Comédie.

Place Crillon

La Place Crillon est l’une des premières places que l’on rencontre, lorsque l’on découvre Avignon en arrivant depuis le Gard. C’est une vaste place abritée par les célèbres remparts de la ville, à l’ombre des platanes, jouxtant une ruelle pavée pleine de charme, et entourée de monuments historiques et de façades anciennes. Pas étonnant donc que les bars et restaurants aient investi le lieu, particulièrement agréable à l’ombre, dans l’après-midi, ou à la nuit tombée. Idéal pour prendre un verre.
