Il ne faut pas parcourir la médina de Marrakech sans être à l'affût de ces antiques cours où se concentraient toute une activité artisanale.
Ces "entrepôts" servaient aussi d'hébergement pour les marchands itinérants, d'où les galeries supérieures qui entourent élégamment la cour. On peut les apparenter à des caravansérails urbains.
C'est en se rendant à la fontaine Chrob n'Chouf que l'on trouve ce fondouk rue Amesfah. La cour est toujours encombrée de charrettes, même si les animaux de bât n'y séjournent plus. Des ateliers occupent encore les parties basses.
