Le jardin des bambous géants est un ...

Le jardin des bambous géants est un endroit impressionnant des jardins botaniques de Paradeniya, car on se sent tellement petits et ils sont si forts que même la pluie ne passe pas a travers leurs feuilles. Les bambous géants proviennent du Myanmar, et c´est l´espèce de bambous la plus grande que l´on connaisse au monde. Les plantes atteignent une hauteur de jusqu´a 45m, et un diamètre de 40cm. Les plantes les plus jeunes poussent a une vitesse de 30cm par jour ! On l´utilise principalement pour construire des maisons, des boutiques… et avec les feuilles on fait des tresses pour des paniers, des tapis, et des balais pour nettoyer.

Les bambous géants ont plusieurs espèces représentées dans les jardins botaniques, ils sont sur la gauche non loin de l´entrée.
