Cette rue piétonne va depuis Las ...

Cette rue piétonne va depuis Las ramblas, en face du grand théâtre du Liceu, jusqu´a la place Sant Jaume. Ici, a la fin du XIVème siècle, a été construite la paroisse de Saint Jaume, a l´endroit où avant, il y avait une vieille synagogue. Aujourd´hui, il ne reste pas grand-chose de l´église originelle, mais sa façade est bien conservée, avec un clocher haut qui domine la rue. Le reste de l´église a été rénové et date du XVIème et XVIIème siècle. Les autres bâtiments sont de styles plus récents et l´ensemble architectural est plutôt agréable. La rue a de beaux lampadaires anciens qui l´illuminent une fois le jour tombé.

Ce qui est sympa, c´est qu´en général les rues piétonnes sont souvent des rues commerçantes, animées le jour mais mortes la nuit. Celle-ci est plutôt parsemée de bars, de pubs, de restaurants et d´hôtels qui lui donnent une deuxième vie une fois les boutiques fermées. En portant son attention un peu plus haut, chaque façade d´immeuble est différente, et a son charme, avec des sculptures, des trompe l´œil…
